‘I don’t have enough time’ is a phrase many of us have used when juggling a business with family life. Here are five essential time management tips that will take less than five minutes to read (I promise!).

1. Plan Ahead

If your mind is all over the place write everything down that you need to do the night before work. Split it into two lists ‘home’ and ‘work.’ You can then work out the priorities for your day and what can be moved on to your list for the next day.

2. Focus on the end goal

Once you have written your list of tasks, make sure you complete the top three. But always have your end goal in mind. Put your phone on silent and shut down all web browsers to ensure you complete what you set out to do.

3. Delegate

If there are tasks on your list that are time-consuming or detracting from your business goals, hand them over to someone else if your budget allows it.

4. Get rid of distractions

Stop constantly checking and responding to email. It means you are being reactive rather productive. Allocate certain times of the day to check and respond to email. Similarly, try logging out of all social media channels on your laptop and phone. You can be sucked into the rabbit tunnel of scrolling through feeds and having conversations online that won’t benefit you and your business at all! Even if you use them for work, try and allocate specific times to respond and check your social media channels.

5. Look after yourself

If you don’t eat and sleep well your business will suffer. Make time to relax, exercise and eat nutritious, good food. It’s easy to get sucked into work and eat a chocolate bar for lunch and drink copious cups of coffee or tea. Instead, make sure you stay hydrated and take a break for lunch.
